Dr. Basma Gamal Awad works as Lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University since 2009 and at the British University in Cairo. She is also a dentist specialized in children dentistry. She graduated in 2007 from Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University with high honors. She has successfully finished her Masters degree in 2013 and her Doctorate degree in 2017. Since then, she has been working as the Director of the credit hours system at the Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University. She obtained her prestigious Diploma of Membership of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow, UK in June 2022. In 2023 she earned the certificate of Laser Dentistry Mastership by Sigmund Freud University in Vienna aiming to enhance her skills in patient care. She also obtained her two-year fellowship program degree in advancement in medical education from FAIMER regional institute in Jan 2024. Nevertheless, she is currently a certified examiner at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK. She contributed in several dental conferences including Ain Shams dental conference in 2016, 2018 and in 2022 and internationally in the IADR general session in 2013 in Seattle USA. Dr. Basma Gamal is always motivated to pursue her career on both the educational and clinical level, always aiming to spread her knowledge and share information with her colleagues to enhance the experience, expertise and knowledge all through. She always believes that inspiring the upcoming generations is an integral part of her job primarily as a dental educator.

Pediatric dental surgeries have shifted from traditional methods such as scalpel and electrocautery to laser surgeries. This shift is part of the constant evolution of the field of pediatric dentistry, which prioritizes comfort, efficiency, safety, and conservative treatments for children. The use of new technology, such as laser dentistry, has improved the overall experience for young patients. Other recent trends in pediatric dentistry include early cavity detection with diagnostic and imaging tools, painless injection systems, and a focus on prevention and education. The future of pediatric dental care holds the promise of even more personalized, effective, and child-friendly approaches, ensuring a positive dental experience for the youngest members of our communities. The aim of this lecture is to expose the current knowledge and experience of both pedodontists, periodontists and oral surgeons respect the most accepted techniques for conduction of various pediatric oral surgeries high-lightening the evidence and the differences in the outcomes between various techniques of management pre, during and post operative respect common oral surgeries in children.
