As the world continues to technologically advance, social media (SM) is becoming an essential part of billions of people’s lives around the world and is affecting almost every industry imaginable. The more digitally oriented the world becomes, the more healthcare industry visualizes SM as an important channel for healthcare promotion, employment, recruiting new clients/patients, marketing for healthcare providers (HCP) and building a better brand name. The aim of the oral presentation is to define SM, shed light on SM usage around the world, and discuss how SM has been an essential tool in healthcare from a HCP’s perspective as well as that of patients.
