As Neptune Beach has an unassuming residential character, parking can be limited, apart from in the south at Seagate Avenue. With 1,100 miles of navigable water, Jax has more shoreline than any other city in the nation. The shops of the Beaches Town Center, located on the division of Atlantic and Neptune Beach, include an independent bookstore and an Indonesian-themed home decor shop.

The Island Trail is a joy, diverging from the paved road and leading out through the marshlands to an observation platform. In a few minutes I saw egrets, roseate spoonbills, and a lot of small lizards. It’s normal to be drawn to the Atlantic shore in Neptune Beach, but there’s a breathtaking wetland environment bordering the city to the west. These structures sit among the delightful Heritage Garden, with growing Neptune Beach Vision Plan herbs, flowers, and vegetables with an historical connection to the area.

You can regularly find locals hanging out in the cafe, working on laptops, reading a book, or chatting with the barista about new coffee blends. Bold Bean Coffee Roasters is a locally-owned shop in Jacksonville Beach founded in 2007 and dedicated to sustainable specialty coffee. The facility features many trails to wander and appreciate various species of natural plants, flowers, and trees. Whether you have an avid sport fishing fan in the family or are just starting as a beginner, this is a great activity for everyone. The Beaches Town Center, or “AB Corner” as the locals call it, is the hot spot for a night out in Neptune and Atlantic Beach.

Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach: A Beach Lover’s Paradise

Exploring Castaway Island Preserve is one of the best things to do in Neptune Beach. Covering 300 acres of varied marshlands and tidal streams, the preserve contains the kind of nature that will have you feeling hours away from the nearest town. Located in nearby Jacksonville Beach, the Beaches Museum celebrates the history of the region. However, Atlantic Beach, Jacksonville Beach, and Neptune Beach decided to stay independent. The museum takes you through not just this part of local history but Neptune Beach culture, science, and the arts.

While the shore is low-key and peaceful in Neptune Beach, you have restaurants, nightspots, visitor attractions and landmarks like the Jacksonville Beach Pier as close as can be. Instead the beachfront is bordered by dunes, with walkovers at 20 different public access points. I doubt anyone can set their eyes on this beach and not fall in love right away. This is the smallest of The Beaches, with a population of less than 8,000, and a residential vibe. You won’t see the large resorts and sprawling beach parks that command the waterfront in neighboring communities.

In a place like this, with a lot of standing or slow-moving water, bug spray is essential. The city’s prime attraction is its continuous sandy shorefront, which will capture your heart at first sight. The entire beach is buffered by low dunes, broken by occasional walkovers at public access points. The farthest north in Jacksonville’s beaches community, Atlantic Beach has a rich history of being an esteemed vacation destination dating back to the early 1900s.

No matter where you choose to stay, you’ll find yourself within easy reach of all the action. Neptune Beach is situated at approximately 30°19’00” N latitude and 81°24’11” W longitude. It is one of several towns on San Pablo Island, spanning Duval and St. Johns Counties.

The City Council, comprised of a Mayor and four City Councilors, is responsible for enacting ordinances and resolutions that govern the city. Neptune Beach is home to approximately 7,500 residents, according to the official government website. The population here is quite diverse, with a majority being White, but there are also African American, Native American, Asian, and other ethnicities. Households in Neptune Beach vary, with 24.2% having children under 18.

If you’re visiting with your dog, bring proof of up-to-date rabies, distemper and bordetella vaccinations. To sleep inside the park, check out the Hana Campground, which offers tent camping for $18 a day or cabins for $30 a day. Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park is in Mayport in the Jacksonville Beaches area and is 447 acres (180 ha) of mature coastal hammock and 1.5 miles of sandy beach. The city of Neptune Beach asks that you rotate gameplay if there are others waiting to play so that everyone can enjoy the amenities equally. Spending the day nestled in the soft sand or wading in the blue waters is one of the best ways to appreciate the Sunshine State. Neptune Beach is one of my favourite beaches in northeast Florida because it is a little less crowded than the surrounding Jacksonville and Atlantic Beaches.

Once you have discovered your parking for the day, walking this small beach community is most desirable. Beach Buggy is a free transportation service with drivers accepting tips. Between Atlantic Beach Jacksonville and Jax Beaches, Duval County,  is where you will find Neptune Beach. Visitors of Jacksonville Beach can walk a couple of miles down the beaches to reach this destination.

The museum plays a prominent role in local arts and culture, offering guests a packed calendar of events. Before arriving, check out what’s on when you’re in town, as events often sell out. If you’re in need of some last-minute items for your beach or park day, the Beaches Town Center is the place to go. A mass of shops is within close proximity, creating a fabulous outdoor mall. The beaches of Neptune are golden brown and well-packed sand perfect for long walks. Weather along this stretch of Florida’s coastline can be a bit cold from late December to early March since Neptune Beach is in the Northeast portion of Florida.
